Alan Saunders is the Engineering Director for the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), where he supports the planning, design, and delivery of transit and rail infrastructure projects across the Commonwealth. With over 30-years of experience in the private and public sectors, he provides technical leadership to ensure projects are prioritized to improve safety and delivered with quality, efficiency, and strong coordination among state, local, and federal partners. Alan is dedicated to advancing DRPT’s mission by supporting innovative, well-managed projects that expand mobility options and strengthen Virginia’s communities.
